A non-profit information archive and database created to provide worldwide promotion of documentary films and videos and free information on how to acquire them!

Why Documentary Treasures™ Was Founded

Our internet archive and database was founded on the belief that a documentary creation should be as accessible to the public as a movie or a book. Unfortunately, documentary programs are one of the most difficult art forms to find in America. Few are available in stores or libraries. Further, Documentary Producers, Sponsors, Distributors, and Copyright Holders have limited means of letting the public know that specific documentaries exist. Documentary Treasures was founded to alleviate this situation.

Our Mission

Ours is a multifaceted mission:

• Documentary Treasures exists to provide a free worldwide service to educate the public regarding the availability of documentary productions.
• Documentary Treasures exists to provide an inexpensive means for Documentary Producers or Copyright Holders to promote their productions.
• Documentary Treasures exists to provide a method of acquiring documentaries.
• Documentary Treasures exists to provide information about Documentary Festivals, Competitions, Exhibitions, and Conferences.
• Documentary Treasures exists to provide a list of Organizations Where Documentaries Can Be Obtained.

Achieving Our Mission

The first step in accomplishing our mission is to create a database on our web site. This database will serve various purposes:

• If you are a Documentary Producers, Sponsors, Distributors, and Copyright Holders, you will have a place to list your production(s).
• If you are a documentary buff, you will have a place to browse and find out what is available, just as you would in a library or store.
• If you are looking for a specific documentary, Documentary Treasures can help you find it.

Our on-line database will enable visitors to search on our web site to obtain information on productions via several criteria:

• Title
• Producer's Name
• Sponsor and/or Distributor
• Category
• If televised, what Network / Station?
• Key Subject Words
• Language
• Release Date

Each entry in our database will include a short description of the selected production plus information on how to obtain it. As it evolves, our web site database will list an ever-increasing number of documentaries. If you are a Documentary Producer/Copyright Holder who would like to have your production(s) listed in our database, please read our Instruction Form and fill out our Submission Form.

After the initial database is created and functioning on-line, we will pursue enhancing the web site with video streaming as well as initiating other activities.
